Askov

Askov

Askov is located on Highway 23 or the Evergreen Memorial Highway, the scenic route to Duluth.  With a population 376 Askov also has a quality of life that can’t be matched in larger cities.  There are two city parks, a recreational vehicle park with hookups for electricity, water & sewer.  Tennis and Basketball courts, playgrounds & bicycling areas can also be found in and around the Askov area.  The Kettle River runs through near by Banning State Park.  Camping, canoeing & hiking can be found in the 5246 acre State Park.  Banning also holds claim to some of the most beautiful scenery around with Wolf Creek Falls and the rapids that flow through the park.  Hell's gate, Blueberry slide & Dragon's Tooth.  The City of Askov is of Danish heritage, founded in 1906 by the Dansk Folkesamfund even the street signs are in Danish.  Askov celebrates Rutabaga days on the fourth Friday & Saturday in August. During The Rutabaga festival you can find fresh produce, arts & crafts, folk and square dancing, live music & lots of good food including Aebleskiver which are round (like a baseball) Danish pancakes.
